I need some help. I want to do a field trip in November. My class will be studying water cycle, weather instruments, and natural disasters. Lori Diffey said you could probably recommend a trip for me.
COOL!!! I'm all over your request Karen. I understand that you teach 4th grade and I believe there are several providers that can meet your needs. Texas State Aquarium has one called "All About Water' and Liberty Science Center has 'Water Dance'. Each can be tailored to the grade you teach. I have a call in to them today on your behalf. I will DEFINITELY let you know about their availability. I'm actually going to shoot for the week of November 9-13 because that's NATIONAL DISTANCE LEARNING WEEK!! Thanks for posting your request here!!!
Carver did a VFT on Friday, Oct. 16 and it was awesome! Mrs. Cook our Young Astronauts teacher had a 5th grade class who participated in Journey Through Space. The students really enjoyed the LIVE presentation and thought it was so cool to communicate with someone in another state. Can't wait to do another one!!
Hey Everyone! This week is National Distance Learning Week (NDLW)!!!! Let's celebrate by making comments on this page to let everyone know what you're doing or have done through VFT's, online lessons or other means of helping students learn through the digital divide in your school or classroom. C'MON!!! Everybody wants to know what you're doing!! Can't wait to see the activity!!
Parkview has two VFT's scheduled for this week and we are extremely excited! I will post an update to let everyone know how they went! Stay tuned......
Oak Grove High School has a VFT scheduled for Friday. Our Anatomy/Physiology, AP Biology and Pre AP Biology classes have a Forensic Autopsy scheduled and the students are really looking forward to it. I'll post an update next week.
Currently at Maumelle Middle hanging out with Laura Mewborn's classes (11/12/09). They are spending ALL DAY in New York! Laura will have more details later.
Hey Everybody!! Just made another page for all (who are editors) to upload their files (video & pics) so that all can grasp the information about each event a lot better. ENJOY!!
Parkview's "Can a Shoebox Fly" VFT by NASA was excellent! The presenter discussed the dynamics of flying and gave Mrs. Taylor-Cross' 9th grade science students the challenge of making a shoebox fly using only a limited number of supplies. The items posted include video of the students testing their shoebox "gliders" to find the flight distance and of the students’ presentations to Mr. Pitzer.
Hello Everyone & HAPPY NEW YEAR!! As you see I've added a revolving map. What we can do with this is have those sites we have VFT's with to visit this site and click on the globe. The globe will show their site - indicated with a dot - with their city name that will be on the globe at all times. Over time, I hope we can cover the globe indicating VFT sites that all the schools (students) have made contact with. HAVE FUN!!!

If you all would like to see Linda's information, go to the top of this page and click on the 'Shine Opportunities' folder on the right. Pretty Cool!
